This study examines the risk factors associated with the development of prediabetes (preDM) after COVID-19. Analyzing five patients diagnosed with new-onset preDM at the COVID-19 Follow-up Clinic, the study identifies advanced age, male gender, low physical activity levels, and corticosteroid use during COVID-19 treatment as contributing factors. The findings suggest that COVID-19 may increase long-term metabolic risks, highlighting the need for close monitoring and lifestyle interventions to prevent the progression to diabetes. Further large-scale studies are recommended to better understand the long-term metabolic effects of COVID-19.
