Brucellosis is an age-old most common zoonotic disease having global distribution, and the disease affects people of all age groups and gender. The disease which is associated with protean manifestation causes a lot of morbidity and loss of man-hours which results in significant economic loss. Brucellosis can be often misdiagnosed as pyrexia of unknown origin due to the similarity in clinical manifestations. The impact of the disease in low-income populations, as well as the economy, raises the importance to study the disease in detail. The World Health Organization (WHO) classified brucellosis as one of the world’s leading neglected zoonotic diseases because of the burden that the infection places, especially on low-income countries. The article provides a brief outlook into the major aspects of brucellosis disease.
