Anomalous origin of the left circumflex artery from the right sinus of Valsalva with a retro-aortic course is a relatively common abnormality. Although considered benign, the retro-aortic course of the anomalous vessel may be an important consideration in aortic surgery and device closure of atrial septal defects. 2D transthoracic echocardiography can easily help detect this anomalous course in a non-invasive manner. Here, we present the echocardiographic images of a young patient who had come for evaluation of chest pain.

Bicuspid aortic valve is the most common congenital anomaly and is associated with the early onset of severe aortic stenosis by the fifth decade. Here, we present the echocardiographic images of a 17-year-old with bicuspid aortic valve who presented with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis with a very high mean transvalvular gradient of 134 mmHg

Tricuspid atresia (TA) is a rare cyanotic congenital heart disease. A persistent left superior vena cava (LSVC) may be associated with TA. The presence of LSVC raises important considerations for eventual repair, in that it may lead to persistent arterial desaturation even after corrective surgery, if associated with an unroofed coronary sinus. Here, we present the case of a 4-month-old child who was diagnosed with TA type 1B, LSVC and a dilated coronary sinus by transthoracic echocardiography.
