Norovirus (NoV) is the major pathogen causing acute gastroenteritis globally. The capsid protein VP1 of GII.20 NoV is closely related to that of the prevalent GII.4 genotype. In this study, we explored the antigenic and glycan binding characteristics of GII.20 VP1. GII.20 VP1 was obtained and presented virus-like particles (VLPs) with a diameter of approximately 38 nm. Polyclonal sera against GII.20 VLPs showed good binding activity even at a dilution of 1:819200 and presented certain binding to GII.4 VLP. In addition, polyclonal sera against GII.4 VLPs showed binding to GII.20 VLP. Polyclonal sera exhibited neutralization effects on GII.20 and GII.4 VLPs in the blocking assay. Furthermore, GII.20 VLP bound to A/B/O type saliva. Sequence analyses revealed that the amino acids in the presumed glycan binding region of GII.20 was similar to that of GII.4. The structure model of the GII.20 P protein showed the greatest structural similarity with those of GII.17 and GII.4 P proteins. In summary, GII.20 VP1 exhibited cross-antigenicity and similar saliva-binding characteristics to that of the prevalent GII.4, which may help explain the low prevalence of GII.20. Considering the high impact of GII.4 NoVs, further surveillance is necessary to monitor the evolution and variation of GII.20 NoV.

Background: Vancomycin, a glycopeptide antibiotic routinely used to treat severe Gram-positive bacterial infections, is associated with the development of drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) in individuals expressing HLA-A*32:01. Previous studies have identified the potential role of T-cells using HLA-A*32:01 positive healthy donor models. However, DRESS pathogenesis remains poorly defined and a deeper mechanistic understanding is now required to aid the diagnosis and prediction of vancomycin-induced DRESS. The present study aims to elucidate CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell involvement within the pathogenesis of vancomycin-induced DRESS following the isolation and functional study of cloned T-cells from hypersensitive patients. Methods: CD4+ and CD8+ vancomycin-responsive T-cell clones (TCCs) were generated by serial dilution from PBMC samples collected from suspected vancomycin-DRESS patients. Functionality of drug-responsive TCCs was assessed using T-cell proliferation ([ 3H]-thymidine). Cytokine analysis was performed using intracellular cytokine staining (ICS), ELISpot assay and LEGENDplex immunoassays. Results: Vancomycin-responsive TCCs expressing CD4+ and CD8+ phenotypes were successfully generated from suspected vancomycin-DRESS patients (n=3). CD45RO + memory T-cells were the primary activated population, with both CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells associated with the release of IFN-γ, IL-5, IL-13, granzyme B and perforin. Vancomycin-responsive CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells are activated by direct, pharmacological interactions, with antigen presentation possible through both HLA class I and HLA class II molecules. Conclusion: This study provides in vitro evidence for the dual role of antigen-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells within the pathogenesis of vancomycin-induced DRESS. This has been demonstrated following the generation of cloned T-cells with strong vancomycin specificity from patients presenting with vancomycin-DRESS and positive for expression of HLA-A*32:01.

Cynophobia, the fear of dogs, is among the most prevalent and debilitating animal phobias: 36% of animal phobia patients report fearing either dogs or cats, and dogs are ubiquitous in many cultures. Exposure therapy is considered first-line treatment for cynophobia, but the involvement of real dogs presents ethical and feasibility concerns. Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) has demonstrated potential as an alternative to in-person exposure therapy in the treatment of animal phobias, but literature evaluating its use for cynophobia is scarce, and a recent scoping review suggests a need for further exploration in this area. We thus present Baxter VR, a VRET-inspired prototype that enables the user to change their size relative to a virtual dog and surrounding environment, which then affects both the degree of interactivity in the environment and the dog’s behaviour itself. For example, the dog becomes fearful and acts aggressively if the user’s size increases to ”giant” scale; which is intended to dispel a common cynophobic belief that dog aggression occurs spontaneously. We argue that such an approach could guide further exploration of VRET interventions for cynophobia, culminating in a safer and more affordable treatment option for individuals suffering from this condition.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the association between adjuvant chemotherapy and prognosis of cancer-associated venous thromboembolism in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods: In this study, open data for secondary analyses were obtained from the DATADRYAD website (www.datadryad.org), and primary data were obtained from Sapporo City General Hospital, Japan. A total of 289 colorectal cancer (CRC) were included in this study. Cancer-associated venous thrombosis was diagnosed by reviewing all reports of enhanced Computed Tomography (CT) performed during follow-up. The association between adjuvant chemotherapy and cancer-associated venous thromboembolism was analyzed using a COX regression model. Survival curves and subgroup analyses were performed to ensure the stability of the results. Results: After adjusting for confounders, the risk of thromboembolism for patients in the group receiving adjuvant chemotherapy was (HR=3.45, 95% CI: 1.46~8.15, P<0.05) compared with the group without adjuvant chemotherapy; the survival curve showed that the prognosis for cancer-associated venous thromboembolism was worse in the group receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. Subgroup analysis showed that the association between adjuvant chemotherapy and the risk of cancer-associated venous thromboembolism remained stable. Conclusions: In the colorectal cancer population, patients receiving chemotherapy who developed cancer-associated venous thromboembolism had a worse prognosis.

In this paper, the significance of data analytics for finance and business will be discussed, with a focus on innovation. The introduction provides a clear meaning of data analytics and points out its importance in decision-making. The literature review part of the book gives background information and analyses historical theories up to recent theories that encourage their application. In this paper, the primary areas of using data analytics in financial decision-making are discussed and they include risk evaluation, investment measurement, and; fraud identification. Also, it explains how data analytics is used in business processes such as improvement operation efficiency, customer targeting, and supply chain. Business intelligence applications and big data frameworks are also described, as well as the difficulties that companies experience in employing them for data analytics. Examples of sectoral data analytics applications are discussed with examples and detailed methodologies and results that have been achieved. Moreover, the paper also reveals emerging themes in data analytics, such as artificial intelligence integration, real-time, data governance, and ethics. Thus, the study establishes the imperative for organizations to promote and adopt data analytics as a critical tool in improving organizational decision-making processes, innovation, and sustained organizational growth. Therefore, overcoming the barriers to implementation allows us to make the best use of data analytics and use data to drive changes across organizations.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are non-coding RNA molecules with a circular structure, primarily generated from linear precursor mRNAs through a back-splicing mechanism. circRNAs regulate various pathophysiological processes, including the proliferation, migration, differentiation, senescence, and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, thereby playing a crucial role in cardiovascular diseases such as atrial fibrillation, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathy, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. With the increasing variety of cancer treatments, the incidence of treatment-induced cardiotoxicity has also escalated. Recent studies have revealed a significant association between circRNAs and Cancer therapy-induced cardiotoxicity (CTIC). This review summarizes the biological functions of circRNAs, providing an overview of the mechanisms through which various circRNAs influence CTIC. Furthermore, we explore the potential cardiovascular implications of targeting specific circRNAs as diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) resistance, positioning circRNAs as promising diagnostic and therapeutic targets for CTIC.

Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is a significant source of diversity in prokaryotes and a key factor in their genome evolution. Although similar processes have been postulated for eukaryotes, the validity of HGT’s impact remains contested, particularly between long distance related organisms like from different kingdoms. Among eukaryotes, the fungal subphylum Pezizomycotina has been frequently cited in literature for experiencing HGT events, with over 600 publications on the subject. We meticulously examine the proteomes of 421 Pezizomycotina species to identify potential instances of interkingdom HGT. Furthermore, we revisit the phylogenies of over 275 HGT candidates previously reported. Through manual scrutiny of 521 anomalous phylogenies, we ascertain that only 1.5% display patterns indicative of interkingdom HGT. Moreover, our novel interkingdom HGT searches within Pezizomycotina yield few new contenders, casting doubt on the prevalence of such events within this subphylum. Although our detailed examination of phylogenies suggested interkingdom HGT, the evidence for lateral gene transfer is not conclusive. Our findings suggest that expanding the number of homologous sequences could uncover vertical inheritance patterns that have been misclassified as HGT. Consequently, this research supports the notion that interkingdom HGT may be an extraordinary occurrence rather than a significant evolutionary driver in eukaryotic genomes.

Objective: This study evaluates the efficiency of health services after converting two ”new management models” hospitals, the Virxe da Xunqueira, and the Hospital Universitario de La Ribera in Alzira, to public management in the regional health system. Material and methods: The data envelopment analysis (DEA) methodology was used. The inputs used were: the number of beds, understood as a capital factor, and the number of workers, interpreted as a labour factor. The outputs related to the result of ”production” were: consultations, emergencies, interventions, admissions, stays, average stay, percentage of occupancy, patients on the waiting list, and average waiting time. Results: Hospital Virxe da Xunqueira case, as a Foundation, stands out in consultations, emergencies, inpatients, and length of stay. On the other hand, the management of the Sergas stands out in surgeries and waiting lists, including patients and average waiting time. Hospital Universitario de La Ribera in Alzira case, public management in the hands of the Conselleria itself is less efficient than private management under the administrative concession model. Conclusions: With the reversion of hospital ownership, public administrations increase the budget of items related to personnel expenditure.

This investigation explored the many-sided features of mild intensity movement and an incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Poiseuille stream in a permeable fine cylinder, focusing on the characteristics of viscous blood. This review investigated the effects of temperature-subordinate thickness and fluctuating strain inclination on blood behavior. These discoveries offer little knowledge of advancing intensity moves and stream qualities in the blood through permeable small frameworks and are urgently needed for applications in biomedical and medical service settings. This review presents an extensive assessment of the overseeing Brinkman equation and energy equation, unraveling the complicated interaction of factors. By utilizing Galerkin’s finite element method, exploration has explored the nuanced connections between boundaries, such as suction/injection, the Darcy number, the consistency boundary, the Prandtl number, and time. Remarkably, the outcomes feature the enormous impact of these elements on the speed and temperature profiles of the blood. The volumetric stream rate was increased, the suction/injection boundary was decreased, and the Prandtl number was increased. Additionally, the Nusselt number increases when the suction/injection boundary and Prandtl number decrease. These findings coincide with the existing information.

Both environmental DNA (eDNA) and environmental RNA (eRNA) have been widely adopted for biodiversity assessment. While eDNA often persists longer in environments, eRNA offers a more current view of biological activities. In eRNA metabarcoding, extracted eRNA is reverse transcribed into complementary DNA (cDNA) for metabarcoding. However, the efficacy of various reverse transcription strategies has not been evaluated. Here we compared the biodiversity recovery efficiency of three strategies: random priming with hexamers, oligo(dT) priming, and taxa-specific priming using Mifish-U for fish in both high- and low-biodiversity regions. Our results demonstrate that reverse transcription strategies significantly impact biodiversity recovery. Random priming consistently detected the highest number of taxa in both low- and high-biodiversity regions. In low-biodiversity areas, oligo(dT) performed comparably to random hexamers; however, in high-biodiversity regions, random hexamers outperformed oligo(dT), particularly in recovering rare taxa. While taxa-specific priming was comparative to the other strategies for high-abundance taxa, it was less effective for rare taxa, thus limiting its utility for comprehensive biodiversity assessment. These differences are largely due to the multiple binding sites for random hexamers compared to the fewer or absent sites with oligo(dT) and taxa-specific primers under high eRNA degradation. Combining random hexamers and oligo(dT) significantly improved taxa recovery, especially for low-abundance species, supporting its best practice in eukaryotes. For prokaryotes or genes lacking polyadenylation, random priming is favored over taxa- or gene-specific priming. Collectively, these findings underscore the critical importance of selecting appropriate reverse transcription strategies in eRNA metabarcoding, with significant implications for effective biodiversity monitoring and conservation efforts.

There are two types of failures that occur on naval battleships. One is normal failure. This is not fatal as it can still carry out its mission if it does occur. On the other hand, critical failure is fatal because it must enter the home port immediately upon occurrence. Unlike normal failure, critical failure occurs with an extremely small probability and has the characteristics of a rare event. The critical failure data of battleships is too small to estimate the distribution. For this reason, in previous studies, only the constant expected value of critical failure was estimated. The variance of failure phenomena is usually very large. That is, a failure cannot be represented by a single constant expected value. Therefore, in this study, the variance of major failures by age of battleships was estimated over the entire lifespan of battleships. Investigate the relationship between critical failure and normal failure, and use this to estimate the population distribution of critical failure. The results of this study warn of the need to improve the Navy's maintenance capabilities. The novelty of this study is that it presented a method for estimating the population of rare events.

Scholars attentive to power have documented how STEM instructional pedagogies often present themselves as race or ideologically neutral, yet privilege white-western racial, gender and sexual identities, which harm minoritized students’ ability to belong and persist in STEM (Haynes & Patton, 2019; Blackburn & McCready, 2009). Serving as a counterstory of resistance to oppression, this ethnographic case study provides a detailed longitudinal account of Phoebe, a queer Latina’s social justice becoming. We provide moments of resistance as she navigated her STEM undergraduate career and teacher preparation program, spaces that are documented as being steeped in whiteness (Carter Andrews, et al., 2021; Sleeter, 2017). Through an in-depth exploration over three years, we offer a counterstory of how a range of experiences helped Phoebe foster her own belongingness in STEM and advocate for LGBTQIA+ youth inclusion as part of her teacher preparation fieldwork. This paper ends with suggestions on supporting STEM majors and future STEM teachers who hold LGBTQIA+ intersectional identities.

This mixed-methods study examines the experience of the imposter phenomenon in a racially/ethnically and sexually diverse sample of undergraduates in majors related to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Guided by an intersectionality framework, we examined whether experiences of the imposter phenomenon differ at the intersection of race/ethnicity and sexual identity. Survey data from undergraduate STEM students (N = 735) consisting of 559 (76%) racial/ethnic minorities and 169 (23%) lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning individuals revealed racial/ethnic and sexual identity differences in the amount of imposter phenomenon. Findings also suggest that STEM students with more mentors reported lower imposter phenomenon. This finding was not moderated by race/ethnicity or sexual identity, implying that mentoring may be a form of social support among students in STEM education. To supplement the quantitative findings, we collected open and close-ended data from participants. Thematic analysis of these data provides insight into the range of coping strategies STEM students use when experiencing the imposter phenomenon. Implications and recommendations for research, theory, and policy are further discussed.

Bio-based materials play a significant role in developing efficient engineering materials because of availability, recyclability and eco-friendliness. Products from Borassus flabellifer are found in both urban and rural locations in Bangladesh, and its fruits, leaf stems, and leaves are utilised in domestic applications, while some, mainly the fruit shells (husk), are discarded as agricultural waste. The objective of this study was to characterize the physical and chemical properties of the Borassus husk fibre experimentally, and it has been found that the density of the husk fibre is 0.74 g/cm 3 , water absorption is 47.25%, moisture regain is 4.41%, and porosity is 34.58%. While scanning electron microscopy (SEM) outcomes show cross-linked, non-uniform, and cylindrical-shaped tubular fibre, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) shows the presence of hemicellulose, cellulose, lignin, and other components. Hence, this can be used as an alternative potential natural fibre for lightweight engineering designs.

Adverse outcome pathways (AOPs) provide a framework to organize and weigh evidence linking molecular interactions of toxicants in cells to outcomes of regulatory concern. Applying this framework facilitates the interpretation of data produced using new test methods. We used AOP #296 which describes how oxidative DNA damage leads to mutations and chromosomal aberrations to develop an integrated testing strategy to evaluate whether a chemical operates through this pathway. We exposed human TK6 cells to increasing concentrations of 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide (4NQO), a tobacco mimetic that causes oxidative DNA damage, in a time-series design. We measured oxidative DNA damage and strand breaks using the high-throughput CometChip assay with and without formamidopyrimidine DNA glycosylase (Fpg), alongside analyses of micronucleus (MN) frequency by flow cytometry, and mutations by error-corrected next-generation sequencing (Duplex Sequencing). Our analysis shows how these methods can be combined to quantify 4NQO-induced, concentration- and time-dependent increases in: (a) oxidative DNA damage (occurred early and at lower concentrations than single strand breaks); (b) strand breaks (remained elevated to 6 hours post-exposures); (c) MN frequency (at 24 hours); (d) mutation frequency (at 48 hours); and, (e) C>A transversions consistent with expected substitutions induced by oxidative DNA lesions. The time-series shows the repair of oxidative DNA damage with persistent strand breaks remaining at 6 hours. Overall, we provide an example of an AOP-informed testing strategy and contribute to quantitative understanding of AOP #296. We also demonstrate the high value of Duplex Sequencing for elucidating the mechanisms associated with exposure to oxidative stress inducers.

Amplicon sequencing of the nuclear ribosomal 5S RNA gene arrays is highly promising for genotaxonomy, to resolve species’ genetic resources and tracing evolution. However, the huge amount of data retrieved with this approach is difficult to manage and prone to redundancy, error, and computational difficulties. Reducing the amount of data per sample without losing the conveyed molecular-phylogenetic signal is therefore a crucial step for downstream analyses. In this work, we compared Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs) and Amplicon Sequence Variants (ASVs) from 5S intergenic spacer (5S-IGS) amplicons of seven beech species (Fagus spp.) obtained with two widely used and competing bioinformatics tools, MOTHUR and DADA2. We assessed qualitative and quantitative differences among sample profiles obtained with the two methods and the capacity of the derived phylogenetic inferences to enclose pivotal 5S-IGS variant types. Over 70% of processed reads were shared between OTUs and ASVs. Despite a strong reduction (>80%) of the representative sequences, DADA2-ASVs identified all main 5S-IGS variants known for Fagus, fully reflecting the overall genetic diversity patterns within each sample. In contrast, large proportions of low-abundant representative amplicons appeared in MOTHUR-OTUs and -ASVs profiles and were inference-wise redundant. We conclude that differences in the sequence variation detected by the two pipelines are minimal and provide no exclusive phylogenetic information. DADA2 ASVs are handier and may thus efficiently replace OTUs in future 5S-IGS studies aimed at deciphering complex bio-ecological phenomena such as hybridisation, polyploidisation, drift and inferring evolutionary pathways of species systems, especially when using increasingly large sample sets.

1. Apex predators are typically considered dietary generalists; often masking individual variability. However, individual specialization—consistent differences in diet and foraging strategies among individuals— is common in apex predators. In some species, only a few specialized individuals can significantly impact prey populations. 2. Leopard seals (Hydrurga leptonyx) are apex predators important to the structure and function of the Southern Ocean ecosystem. Leopard seals are broadly described as generalists, but little is known about their trophic ecology at the population or individual level. 3. We analyzed δ13C and δ15N profiles in whiskers (n=46) from 34 leopard seals from an important aggregation in the Western Antarctic Peninsula to assess population and individual trophic variation. We also evaluated individual consistency across years using repeat samples from 7 seals collected over 2-10 years. We compared population and individual isotopic niche space and explored drivers of intraspecific variation in leopard seal trophic ecology. 4. We find that leopard seals have a broad trophic niche (range: 6.96-15.21‰) and are generalists at the population level. However, most individuals are specialists, with only a few generalists. Furthermore, individual seals specialize at different trophic levels, resulting in niche partitioning. Most variation in trophic ecology is driven by individual specialization, but sex and mass also contribute. We also find that some seals specialize over time, consistently foraging at the same trophic level, while others switch trophic levels within and between years. 5. Long-term specialization by only a few leopard seals has likely contributed to the decline of a significant local mesopredator colony; the Antarctic fur seal. Our findings show the importance of examining individual specialization in leopard seals across their range to understand their impact on other prey populations. More broadly, this approach should be applied to other apex predator populations, as a few specialists can significantly impact ecosystems.

Rambutan seeds are often discarded as waste, so making it a valuable source to assess their conversion to a commercially available energy alternative. Rambutan seed has fatty acids which have the potential to produce biodiesel. Malwana rambutan seeds were used as biodiesel feedstock in this research. The process carried out using Soxhlet apparatus to extract rambutan seed oil (RSO), then it converted into fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) which is known as biodiesel, by acid esterification followed by base transesterification. Acid value = 0.35mgKOH[[EQUATION]], Kinematic viscosity at 40°C = 2.87[[EQUATION]], Flash point = 60.67°C, Cetane number = 44.21, Distillation temperature = 269.65 °C were the results shown by Malwana rambutan biodiesel, in addition to that GCMS analysis also performed to analyze fatty acid composition of Malwana rambutan seed oil and conformation for the formation of fatty acid methyl ester. From the results, it showed that, the acid value, kinematic viscosity, cetane number and distillation temperature were within the standard whereas falsh point did not meet the standard value. The Malwana rambutan seed oil can be used as raw material for biodiesel production and also can be used as an additive to present diesel according to the obtained results.

The Norwegian coastline spans from 58°N to 71°N and exhibits an environmental gradient with decreasing temperatures from south to north. The great scallop (Pecten maximus) is distributed along the Norwegian coastline up to 67°N, where the distribution is documented through monitoring by underwater video and scientific diving. Since the mid-2000s, monitoring has revealed a northward shift, where small populations of great scallops have established themselves beyond the previous distribution boundaries along the coastline and in the mid-western part of the Lofoten Islands at 68°N. The northward expansion of the great scallops’ distribution is believed to be limited by low temperatures. However, over the past 15 years, coastal water temperatures have increased by approximately 1°C. Although a 1-degree temperature increase may seem modest, it reduced the time during winter with temperatures below 4°C from three to one month at the coastal station Skrova at 68°N. As the great scallop’s preference for warm water is widely documented, and the timing of the northward shift seems to occur at the same time as the warmer waters are observed, we believe that the temperature increase is the main explanation for the observed northward shift on established populations of P. maximus.

Virtual Synchronous Generator can emulate the characteristics of a synchronous generator to provide inertia and damping for microgrid systems. In the case of employing a T-type three-level converter structure, the traditional model predictive control method has a large computational burden, and it is difficult to determine the weighting factor of the midpoint voltage. Additionally, although fixed-parameter VSG control can provide inertia and damping, it cannot guarantee frequency regulation performance. To address these issues, this paper proposes an optimal switching sequence model predictive control strategy for T-type three-level VSG with parameter synergistically adaptive control method. This method analyses the impact of different vectors output by the T-type three-level inverter on the midpoint potential and the charging and discharging status of the DC-side capacitor. By setting constraint conditions, the switching sequence of the inverter is optimized, eliminating the weighting factor used to control the midpoint voltage in traditional cost functions, resulting in smaller fluctuations in the DC-side voltage. Based on the active closed-loop transfer function of VSG, the optimal damping ratio is set, and a parameter synergistically adaptive formula is designed to allow coordinated adjustment of VSG parameters, effectively improving microgrid frequency stability during power fluctuations.

This review investigates the hypothesis that the composition of gut microbiota influences central nervous system (CNS) functions and cognition, playing a crucial role in the pathogenesis of various CNS diseases. To explore this hypothesis, we reviewed data from existing literature and analyzed its implications for clinical medicine. We also propose potential therapeutic strategies based on current clinical research. Our methodology involved an extensive literature search in databases such as PubMed/Medline and the Frontiers archive, using key terms like “microbiome,” “nervous system,” and “gut-brain axis.” After screening 35,873 publications, we identified and analyzed 160 full-text papers and reviews, based on their relevance. Additional keywords explored included “short-chain fatty acids,” “microbiome metabolites,” “immune system,” “multiple sclerosis,” “autism,” “anxiety,” “depression,” “Alzheimer’s disease,” “Parkinson’s disease,” and “probiotics.” Our findings suggest that a gut microbiota composition rich in short-chain fatty acid-producing strains has a generally positive effect on CNS health. These insights were drawn from preclinical animal models and early clinical studies. The review further discusses the potential of microbiota modulation as a therapeutic approach for CNS disorders.

Granular grippers can manipulate a wide variety of objects, but need to be pressed on the object to conform to it. If the object is placed on unstable ground, e.g., on sand or water, this step might cause the object to sink or move away from the gripper, hindering proper operation. We introduce a granular gripper with an integrated suction cup, where suction and jamming are controlled independently. We demonstrate the system's robust and enhanced gripping capabilities by comparing its grasping performance with a typical granular gripper design. We show that the proposed device can grip objects that are challenging for typical granular grippers, including those placed on unstable ground, as the suction cup stabilizes the object, allowing the gripper to conform.
