Introduction: This empirical study examines the factors that affect cryptocurrency adoption in India’s digital market, predicting a continued increase in adoption rates. It investigates how social influence, transparency, price value, traceability, and attitude impact investors’ intentions to invest in cryptocurrency, acting as a mediator for adoption. The research further explores the connection between investors’ intentions and cryptocurrency adoption, emphasizing the role of user preferences in shaping wider market trends. Methodology: The research employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a structured questionnaire distributed to 400 cryptocurrency investors in Punjab, India. The survey was designed based on expert opinions and a review of existing literature, focusing on the key factors influencing investment intentions. Data were collected through Google Forms, and statistical analyzed the data using partial least squares structural equation modelling to evaluate the relationships between the identified factors and investment intentions. Results: The research on cryptocurrency adoption found that technical factors were insignificant in influencing investors’ intentions, while economic factors were the most significant. The study also found that social factors and personal characteristics did not significantly affect investment decisions. The intention to invest mediates the relationship between adoption decisions and cryptocurrency end-use adoption, emphasizing the importance of economic factors and investors’ intention to invest in driving adoption. Discussion: The results underscore the importance of economic motivations in driving cryptocurrency adoption, while highlighting the limited role of technical and social factors. This suggests that stakeholders should focus on enhancing the economic appeal of cryptocurrencies and addressing technical concerns to foster greater adoption. The findings also emphasize the need for targeted educational initiatives and marketing strategies that resonate with potential investors. Future research should explore the nuances of these factors across different demographics to develop a comprehensive understanding of cryptocurrency adoption dynamics.
