James C. Bezdek (Life Fellow, IEEE and IFSA). PhD, applied mathematics, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY,1973. He is a past president of NAFIPS, IFSA and IEEE CIS; founding editor of the Int'l. J. of Approximate Reasoning and IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems: and has received the IEEE 3rd Millennium medal, IEEE CIS Fuzzy Systems Pioneer award, IEEE Frank Rosenblatt technical field award, and the IPMU Kempe de Feret Award.
