The Policy Control Function (PCF) in the 5G network is used to provide QoS to Session Management Function (SMF), and Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF). In the presence of multiple PCF nodes, it is important to use a Binding Support Function (BSF) node. The BSF node can be used as redirect BSF or proxy BSF. In this work, we analytically derive the system delay to obtain the response of the Application Function (AF) in the presence of redirect BSF and proxy BSF. In addition, we compare the system delay using redirect BSF and proxy BSF. The comparison results show that the system delay with redirect BSF is not always lower than the system delay with proxy BSF. Also the proper use of BSF variants can minimize the call setup delay and enhance the Quality of Experience (QoE) for end-users by ensuring more responsive service.
