Dr. Swaroop Darbha received his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1989 and M. S., and Ph. D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992 and 1994 respectively. He was a Visiting Post-doctoral researcher at the CaliforniaPATH program of the Institute for Transportation Studies at UC Berkeley till December 1996. He joined Texas A&M University in January 1997 as an Assistant Professor, where he is currently the Gulf Oil / Thomas A. Dietz Professor. He is interested in the areas of Unmanned Vehicles, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Control and Estimation Theory and Optimization.
