The incidence of IE is approximately 5 per 100,000 people annually. Despite advancements in antimicrobial therapy and surgical interventions, the prognosis for IE remains poor. This report discusses a rare case of infective endocarditis caused by uncommon pathogen Serratia marcescens, a gram-negative bacterium. (9)
