Abstract

We propose a two-mode OPS architecture using an optical multiport MDM DFT-based label generator and processor. By combining optical labels on two modes, we exponentially increase the number of labels. Beat noise effects significantly increase the label error rate, particularly when multimode crosstalk is maximum. This impairment can be mitigated by time shifting the optical labels of the two modes by half of the label length.
