Stachys is one of the most diverse genera of the family Lamiaceae and currently consists of 360 species. Stachys species exhibit high morphological variability and are distinguished using indumentum, calyx and corolla length, tooth-to-calyx ratio and verticillaster arrangement. Here, based on morphological and micromorphological studies, Stachys cuhacioglui Yıldırım & Ö.Güner (Lamiaceae) described as a new species. The new species was collected from İzmir province in SW Anatolia, Turkey. Stachys cuhacioglui differs from S. annua complex in cordate basal leaves, campanulate calyx, recurved calyx teeth, shorter calyx (6–7 mm long) and shorter corolla (8–9 mm long). Description, etymology, phenology, geographical distribution, IUCN threat category and ecology of the new species are given.
