Effective Classroom Placements for Students with DisabilitiesAnn M. Trimm-AlcarezSchool of Education, Liberty Universityamtrimm@liberty.eduAbstractIn today’s classrooms, placement setting appropriate for students with disabilities has continued to be the center of controversy with administrators, teachers and school leaders. There has been an ample amount of research in inclusion versus pull-out program, teacher’s perception in inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education classrooms, and the support and accommodation they will receive to succeed academically. The “one-size-fits-all” concept is still the norm when it comes to learning. Therefore, the literature review will generally conclude that there is a positive correlation between inclusion, teacher’s perception and academic achievement of students with disabilities in the general education classrooms.Key words: Inclusion, pull-out program, teacher’s perception, students with or without disabilities’ perception, and differentiated instruction.
