Expanding upon person-centered approaches to understanding empathy, the author introduces an integrated psychotherapeutic framework, Existential Depth Analysis (EDA), that uses the four ultimate concerns of existential psychotherapy (death, freedom, isolation, and meaninglessness) to facilitate empathic engagement with clients throughout the therapeutic process. The author also illustrates the practical applications of EDA in clinical and educational settings.
