Herein, activated porous carbon with highly surface area has been successfully synthesized from shrimp shell (SSAC) and the graphitic structure is slightly maintained via adjusted KOH activation conditions. The textual structural and morphological properties of prepared-SSAC was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The maximum specific capacitance 262 F g−1 at current density of 1 A g-1 and 198F g−1 at 10 A g−1 calculated in a 6 M KOH electrolyte. Moreover, high energy and power densities of the supercapacitor are 28.266 Wh kg-1 and 4460 W kg-1, respectively, whereas the cycle-life performance is 85.5% after 10,000 charging−discharging cycles at 1 A g−1 measured by galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD) studies is not firstly attributed to high surface area, but due to the inveterate electron-rich nitrogen
